Bill Metcalfe started flint knapping on September 1, 1967. For twenty years he taught himself the ways of the flint knapper until he met Bob Thomas where he recieved his first formal lesson in flint knapping on March 16, 1988. Since then he has become the instructor and has given more than 1500 people their first lesson in flint knapping.
